Your account
How do I create an account?
Download Trackbuddy on your iPhone, tap Get Started and sign in with your email address or with Apple. The app then asks you to accept the terms and to confirm your age.
Why does Trackbuddy ask my age?
Trackbuddy is for people aged 13 and over, and it protects athletes under 18 with stricter privacy defaults. On iOS 26 you can share an age range through Apple instead of a birth date.
Where are the settings?
Open your profile and tap Settings. There you set your level, hand-time conversion, seasons, uploads and privacy. You also find blocked people, Recently Deleted, help and your account.
Who can see my profile and sessions?
You choose in Settings, under Privacy. You show your profile to Everyone, Followers or Only me. For new sessions, you pick Everyone, Followers, Team and coaches, or Private (only you and your coaches). You can change each session when you finish it.
If you are under 18, Trackbuddy keeps Everyone and Appear in search off. Your profile and sessions are never public. Only teammates and connected coaches can find you in search. You approve every follow request.
Will I stay signed in without signal?
Yes. Trackbuddy keeps you signed in when your phone is offline. It syncs your changes when your phone is back online.
Coaches and teams
How do I join a team?
Open the invite link your coach sends you, or scan the team’s QR code with your iPhone camera. To use a code, open your profile, tap See All next to Clubs, choose Join with an invite code and enter the 8 characters.
Before you join, Trackbuddy shows the team and two choices, Edit my sessions and See my health data. Both are off unless you turn them on.
How do I connect with my own coach?
Accept your coach’s request in the Connect tab, or find your coach there and send a request. When you accept, you choose whether the coach can edit your sessions. See my health data stays off until you turn it on.
What can a coach do with my sessions?
Only what you grant. Joining a team gives its coaches no right to edit your sessions and no access to your health data. With Edit my sessions, a coach can log, correct and finish your sessions. You see “Edited by” and the coach’s name on each change.
A coach can delete only sessions the coach created. If a coach deletes a session with results, you can restore it from Recently Deleted for 30 days. A coach can make a session less visible than your default, never more.
How do I change what a coach can do?
For a team, open the team and choose Coaching access from its menu. For your own coach, change the switches on the coach’s card under My Coaches in the Connect tab. The change takes effect at once.
How do I remove a coach or leave a team?
In the Connect tab, choose Remove coach from the coach’s menu. To leave a team, open the team and choose Leave team. The coach loses edit and delete rights at once, and every session stays with you. Blocking someone also ends any coach connection between you.
How do I invite athletes to my team?
Open the team and tap Invite. Choose who joins as (admins invite members or coaches; coaches invite members), when the invite expires (1, 7, 14 or 30 days, 7 by default) and how many people can use it. Then share the link, show the QR code or copy the code. In the team’s invite list, you see who created each invite, when it expires and how often people used it. Withdraw an invite and its link and code stop working at once.
Logging without signal
Does Trackbuddy work without signal?
Yes. You can start, log and finish a session with no signal. You can also add meet marks by hand. Trackbuddy saves everything on your phone and sends it in order when your phone is back online. Each session shows Synced, Saving, Waiting for signal or Needs attention. Home shows how many changes are still waiting.
What does “Couldn’t be saved” mean?
Trackbuddy couldn’t save a change, for example because a coach lost access to that athlete. Tap the sync status on Home to see it. Tap Retry to send it again, or Discard to drop that change from the phone. If you discard a session that never reached Trackbuddy, Trackbuddy removes it from your phone.
What happens if I log out with unsent changes?
Log Out in Settings warns you first and counts the training changes, photos and videos that haven’t reached Trackbuddy. Choose Stay signed in and wait for them to send, or Log Out Anyway and lose them.
Photos and video
Why is my video waiting for Wi-Fi?
Trackbuddy uploads videos over 100 MB on Wi-Fi only, unless you turn on Upload large videos on cellular in Settings, under Photos and video. With Low Data Mode on, Trackbuddy waits for Wi-Fi for every video. Trackbuddy always uploads photos. Your training stays saved on your phone either way.
Do uploads keep going when I close the app?
Yes. Trackbuddy keeps uploading your photos and videos in the background, also when the app is closed. Tap the upload status on Home to see each one, retry a failed upload or cancel it.
Does Trackbuddy shrink my videos?
No. Trackbuddy uploads the original recording, so a slow-motion clip keeps its recorded frame rate. The feed plays a smaller muted preview. Open the video to play the original, scrub through it and slow it to ½ or ¼ speed.
Do my photos and videos show where I took them?
No. Before uploading, Trackbuddy removes the location from every photo and video, along with device identifiers such as serial numbers and photo library ids. Trackbuddy keeps the camera make and model and the time you took it.
How do I share a PB as an image?
Choose Share on your own session, rep, mark or profile, pick the story or post size, then Share image or Save image. Trackbuddy asks for access to add to your photo library only when you save.
Wind, timing and PBs
How does Trackbuddy decide whether a mark is wind-legal?
Trackbuddy uses only an official reading. In the 100 m, 200 m, 100 m and 110 m hurdles, long jump and triple jump, a competition mark with an official reading over +2.0 m/s is wind-aided (w). Inside a heptathlon or decathlon the limit is +4.0 m/s.
Trackbuddy keeps a reading from your own gauge, or wind you only felt, with the rep. Neither decides legality. If a competition mark has no official reading, Trackbuddy flags it NWI (no wind information). The mark still counts for your PB.
How are hand times handled?
Trackbuddy always keeps the time you entered. Below 800 m, Trackbuddy keeps hand times out of your PB. If a hand time would beat your PB after conversion, you see it as a separate hand-timed best (h). The conversion adds 0.24 s below 300 m and 0.14 s from 300 m to under 800 m. A team can use the NFHS convention instead, which adds 0.24 s to every race. Trackbuddy uses your own choice in Settings, under Hand-time conversion, first. Then it uses your team’s choice, then Athletic.net’s. The line under the setting shows the one in use. From 800 m up, hand times count for your PB.
What counts as my PB?
Your PB is your best competition mark that is wind-legal (or NWI) and not hand-timed below 800 m. Trackbuddy keeps a separate PB for each implement weight and hurdle height. Until you have a competition mark in an event, your best training or test mark stands in. Trackbuddy also keeps a training best and a season best, and flags altitude marks (A, 1000 m and higher) and indoor marks (i).
Can I add a meet mark I didn't log in a session?
Yes. Add the mark by hand with the meet, venue, place, wind and a link to the official results. Trackbuddy applies the same wind and timing rules to decide whether it counts for your PB. You can add it with no signal.
How do seasons work?
High school and college athletes get indoor and outdoor seasons. Everyone else gets the calendar year. A team can set the convention for its athletes, and coaches can adjust season dates and add training phases. Settings, under Seasons, shows the convention in use. In the northern hemisphere indoor runs from December to mid-March, outdoor from mid-March to the end of August and cross country from September to November. Southern hemisphere seasons shift by six months.
In Settings, under Seasons, you can set a goal and a target meet for a season. With a target meet this season and last season, the progress chart lines both seasons up by weeks before the meet.
Venues and weather
Why does Trackbuddy ask for my location?
Only when you tap Find venues near me while picking a venue. Trackbuddy uses that reading to list and sort venues near you and doesn’t store it. Search by name works without your location.
How do I add a venue that isn't listed?
Tap Add a venue in the venue picker and move the map until the pin sits on the track. Then name it, choose indoor or outdoor and add the surface, lanes and loop if you know them. If you used Find venues near me and you are standing at the track, Trackbuddy takes the altitude from that reading. Other people see the venue after Trackbuddy reviews it. Trackbuddy flags marks at 1000 m or higher with the altitude flag (A).
Where does the weather come from?
From Apple Weather, for the venue’s location, once when you finish an outdoor session. The session shows the temperature, the conditions and the wind. Each rep keeps the wind you entered for it. Without a venue, indoors or without signal at the finish, the session has no weather.
Deleting data
How do I delete a session?
Choose Delete on the session. If the session has results, Trackbuddy moves it to Recently Deleted in Settings for 30 days, then deletes it for good. If it has no results, such as a plan you no longer need, Trackbuddy deletes it right away.
What can I do in Recently Deleted?
Tap Restore to bring a session back with its results, marks and PBs. To remove one of your own sessions for good before the 30 days, swipe left on it or touch and hold it, choose Delete Now and confirm. Trackbuddy removes its results, marks, photos and videos at once and recalculates your PBs. You can’t undo this. A coach who deleted your session can restore it but can’t delete it for good.
How do I delete my account?
Open your profile, tap Settings, then Delete Account. The screen lists what Trackbuddy removes and what stays, asks once more, and shows each step until the deletion is done. It takes a few minutes and continues if you close the app. You can’t undo it. The privacy policy lists everything it removes.
If the screen says Deletion stopped, tap Try again. The deletion continues where it stopped. If it stops again, email hello@trackbuddy.co and we finish it for you.
Can I get a copy of my data?
Yes. Email hello@trackbuddy.co from the address on your account and ask for a copy.
Reporting content
How do I report a post, comment or person?
Open the … menu on the session, rep, mark, comment, profile or team, or on a photo or video in the viewer, and choose Report. Pick a reason and add a note if it helps. Trackbuddy doesn’t tell the person who reported them. Trackbuddy reviews every report within 24 hours, removes content that breaks the terms and suspends accounts that post abusive content.
How do I block someone?
Choose Block from the … menu on their profile, a session or a comment. You and that person no longer see each other’s profiles, sessions or comments, any follow or coach connection between you ends. Trackbuddy doesn’t tell them. Unblock in Settings, under Blocked people. Follows and coach connections don’t come back when you unblock.
Can I hide something without reporting it?
Yes. Hide removes a session, mark or comment from your own view only.
