Beat the gun.
Wait for the gun, then tap, click or hit space. Go before it, or within 0.100 of it, and it's a false start.

The 0.100 rule
Faster than 0.100 is a guess.
At World Athletics meets, sensors in the blocks time each sprinter's push against the gun. A reaction under 0.100 seconds counts as a false start, because the rule holds that nobody hears the gun and moves that fast.
On a phone the number reads slower: the screen, the touch and the speaker all add time. Use it to race your teammates, not to compare with a final.
